Crows’ Gambit

A genre-bending mystery about Jazz, Time, and Crows.

The setting is a small town in the California foothills. Life is good for Phil Andrade, a young, freelance technical writer. He’s good at what he does and he likes his space. Sure, he’s not much of a people person, but he loves to bike through the beautiful countryside. His biggest passions in life are jazz and a couple of crows who seem to’ve adopted him.

But Phil’s good life begins to unravel as he loses his job and home within the space of twenty-four hours. The more he scrambles to put things back together, the more he becomes embroiled in strange, and sometimes deadly, small-town politics.

Edge Station

A Story from the Edge of Human Space

This hard science fiction novel is set in a dystopian future that is dominated by immense, star system-spanning corporations. Over the centuries, the wealth pyramid has grown ever more high and narrow. The Prime Families, shareholders in the major corporations, control nearly all wealth and power. Immediately beneath the Primes is a class of executives who live in a constant, zero-sum scramble for the leftovers. For most everyone else, life is grim. It is only at the fringe — the very boundary of human-explored space — that individuals enjoy a modicum of freedom.

Edge Station Four is just such a remote outpost. Its primary mission is to locate resource-rich regions that can provide raw materials for the so-called “Inner Words.” Teams of scout pilots search for exploitable resources. On a routine scouting mission, a team encounters an intelligent alien species. Unfortunately for the aliens, their home world lies within a system that is unusually resource rich.

The Trilogy of the Place Between Worlds

The Locust Queen’s Feast
A Fragment of Nothing
A Lullaby for the Gods

All living worlds touch the Great Hub, the Place Between Worlds. Each world is one among a multitude. Our earth is but a mote in an infinity of infinities that stretches from the Abyss to the Realms of Chaos.

Eddie is a good guy, an ordinary young man with a bit of an attitude. Aloof, cynical, and lazy, he’s been coasting along ever since high school. On his twenty-first birthday, he’s mugged, robbed, and left stranded in an anonymous, rust belt town. What starts out as a bummer of epic proportions soon becomes the adventure of a lifetime.
